VENICE - “We are very sorry to tell you that our love story is over”. Federica Pellegrini and Filippo Magnini make it official, in a declaration to Ansa, that a relationship that has monopolised the attention of gossip magazines and the sports world for years has come to an end.

“It’s over between us” – the two swimmers add in their joint telephone call made to Ansa from France, where they are preparing for the World Championships.

“The reasons for our break-up are personal and have absolutely nothing to do with what has been written about us in the last few weeks. Sometimes love just wanes.

We will continue to pursue our shared sport professionally through to Barcelona, focused on that and that alone”.
